Heat Pumps in Beach Resorts: Energy Efficiency and Sustainability at Secrets Moxché

Luxury resorts in coastal areas face major challenges in HVAC and water heating, due to high humidity, salt stress and the constant demand for guest comfort. Implementing efficient systems not only reduces operating costs, but also minimizes environmental impact.

En el caso del hotel Secrets Moxché, ubicado en Playa del Carmen, Grupo TECSIR designed and implemented a heat pump-based solution, optimizing cooling and hot water generation. With a capacity of 6 MW (1800 TR), the system maintains 1,200 rooms at an ideal temperature of 7°C, ensuring stable and efficient air conditioning.

Additionally, this heat pump system enables the generation of 4.5MW of hot water for showers, pool heating, and other resort services, reaching temperatures of up to 60°C. Compared to traditional natural gas systems, this solution has achieved a reduction of 7,600 tons of CO₂ per year, contributing to the hotel's sustainability.

Heat pumps have become an efficient alternative for hotels in coastal areas, as they take advantage of energy from the environment to reduce energy consumption and optimize the performance of cooling systems. With this technology, Secrets Moxché not only improves the experience of its guests, but also reduces its carbon footprint and strengthens its commitment to sustainability.
